Net Atlantic Announces 2014 Scholarship Award Winners

SALEM – Net Atlantic congratulates Samuel M. Feinstein (pictured right) of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School and Alexander Ness (pictured left) of Marblehead High School on winning the Net Atlantic 2014 Scholarship Awards for outstanding scholarship and leadership skills, as well as science and technology achievement, respectively.

For the sixth straight year, as part of its dedication to giving back to the local community, Net Atlantic held its annual college scholarship contest for two commendable students attending public or private high schools in Salem, Peabody, Lynn, Lynnfield, Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, and Swampscott. This year each applicant was awarded $2,000. 

Eligible candidates were required to graduate from high school in 2014, maintain a GPA above 3.0, and plan to pursue a four-year college degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications, computer science, or information technology. To qualify, they were asked to submit an application, including an essay in which they could share their accomplishments, passions, and intelligence.

The scholarship winners were honored at a breakfast presentation on June 17, 2014 at Net Atlantic's headquarters. "We wish both Sam and Alex every success as they begin the next phase of their lives this fall," said Net Atlantic CEO Andrew Lutts. "We know these remarkable young men will achieve all they set out to do, and more."

Academic and Leadership Achievement Award Winner
Samuel M. Feinstein, Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, Peabody, MA

Samuel graduated in the top 3% of his senior class with 3.85 GPA, ranking him in the top 3% of the class of 2014.  Sam's academic load included several AP courses in Chemistry, English, Music Theory, Psychology and US History.  His cumulative SAT score was 2200, including 750 in Reading, 680 in Writing and 770 in Math. 

In addition to his studies, Sam was engaged in various extracurricular activities at PVMHS, including Band (Electric & Double Bass), Ski Club, as well as the National Honor Society. 

Sam also had many notable accomplishments outside of school, including receiving Handel & Hadyn Society's Evangelyna Etienne Award for musical excellence, of which he was the first recipient. Samuel also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

Samuel will attend the University of Miami in September 2014, where he'll pursue a degree in music business and entertainment industries.

Science and Technology Achievement Award Winner
Alexander Ness, Marblehead High School, Marblehead, MA

Alex produced a strong academic record during his 4 years at Marblehead High School, with a 3.00 GPA.  His most notable awards include the Gold Key for Digital Art and Scholastic Art & Writing (2013), as well as the Most Inspirational Digital Artist and Outstanding Achievement in Spanish 2 (both for the Junior Class Awards-2013).

In addition to being the Art Director for the 2014 MHS Yearbook; he was also busy developing a specially-customized iPhone with information about the MHS Class of 2014. What sets Alex apart is his entrepreneurial vision. Since the age of 13, Alex has developed an online business creating 3D Motion Media and Modeling—his client base ranges from students creating YouTube videos to jewelry companies creating 3D models for their newest watches!  Alex's particular passion is cars—and he has modeled approximately 30 of them!   

Alex gave back to the community with volunteer work at the Northeast Animal Shelter here in Salem, working with local families who wish to adopt cats/dogs at the shelter.

This fall, Alex plans on majoring in digital media and design at the University of Connecticut.
